Hello! Welcome to the blog!

So, this is my first post on this site! Neat! I suppose I should offer an introduction, then.
This is the mogblog (name pending, might find a better title if I think I have one), a section of my website where I’ll (hopefully) be posting a bunch of my random thoughts.

I made this site after I realized, “Man, I’ve been playing a lot of games lately, and I really wanna recommend them to people!” I used to have a platform to do that with my school’s Video Production class, where I used to write and edit reviews. However, I ran into a few problems. A.) While I really enjoy making videos, it also takes a lot of time to do, even for really short ones. I’d have to collect a bunch of footage, too—it’s a bit of a hassle! And B.) I don’t have access to Premiere Pro anymore now that I’m no longer in that class, which was my main editing software during that time, so I would have to either pay Adobe money (EW), pirate it (possible, but I don’t like to risk getting a trojan), or find an alternative.

Decent alternatives are hard to find, though. Davinci Resolve is a name I’ve heard often, but it is super bulky and confusing, takes up a ton of storage space, and runs BAD on my dinky little laptop. CapCut is one I’ve used before, and I think it's certainly a fine tool (probably my favorite mobile editor!), but so much of it seems to be dependent on the Internet, even getting taken down whenever that day-long TikTok ban came around, and I don’t want my main editor being that transitory. Vegas Pro was another contender, but when I was looking to buy it, I got…

A Discord screenshot of a groupchat. Mog: chat sony vegas is $30 should i buy? Person 1: no, Person 2: no, Person 3: never

…we’ll say "mixed responses"? So I held off on it. Instead, I got recommended to use Kdenlive, since it was free and open source.

Since then, I have realized that I hate Kdenlive. It took me like 15 minutes to figure out how to change a video’s x and y coordinates. I can’t efficiently shitpost in these conditions!!

So video editing has been a bit of a bust for me. Though Vegas Pro is back to being available for $30, so maybe I’ll bite the bullet this time. Even if it sucks at first, at least that $30 would be a motivation to learn the tools properly!

Anyways. Back to the blog. I realized that if I couldn’t do the editing/video creation that I wanted to do, there was really nothing stopping me from just using other platforms instead. And I’ve already written plenty of material—there’s basically at least one plan or script that went unrecorded for every video I did wind up finishing, and way more ideas that never got elaborated on. So, I figured, why not make a place to platform ‘em? I considered just using a Tumblr blog or something (which I might still make for crossposting), but a website is way cooler. So I made* this site in four-ish days and the rest is history!

*I mostly just Frankensteined code from NomNomNami and Zonelets together. I suck at doing HTML and CSS stuff from scratch LOL

So, this site will be dedicated to me doing the whatever-the-hell-I-want projects I liked to do in that class. I probably won’t worry too much about what I say being unique and original in the same way I do when I write an essay or a proper YouTube video, because (as the site decor implies) this is mostly just for fun! Just a way for me to talk about cool things I like or rant about stuff. I have a few things partially written either intended for this site or repurposed from other places, and plenty of ideas for articles.

I think that’s about it for what I have to talk about here, so I’ll be ending the article now. Bye!!! ^w^
