personality

the type of guy who would play guitar on a balcony in the pitch black night, but oh my god is he bad at playing guitar

apollo's pretty down-to-earth, light, and jokey. generally uses verbosity mixed with profanity in his speech. can act a bit pretentious and self-pitying at times. he's super anxious at his core, and is quite easy to send spiraling

when threatened, he'll either get dismissive or defensive. the type to push emotions down until they burst out, and also the type to hold grudges.

relationships

FAMILY

Parents: grew up with a very traditional family - was pressured into conformity and femininity, which he would grow to realize he despised. came out as trans when he was 16, to which they didn't react well. a couple of months before he turned 18, they got into a massive fight and he was kicked out. shockingly, they don't speak anymore!

FRIENDS

Nych (partner): Apollo's roommate and partner. Met after Nych emigrated from Portugal - Apollo helped him get accustomed while Nych helped him be more confident with himself. Nych asked him out a while later, and after he got his own apartment, invited Apollo to live with him. They're pretty typical roommates - drive each other a little mad, but they like the other's company a lot. I like to think they mellow out a bit as they age.

Reel: Part of his old high school friend group. Him and Nych still hang out at Reel's house pretty regularly, and he hops on Reel's Minecraft server from time to time.

Macaron: Reel's mother. Let Apollo stay at their house for a couple of months after he was kicked out. He feels an immense debt to her

Sashimi: Old middle/high school friend. Also involved in the previously mentioned friend group. They chat less often now, but still speak and exchange art occasionally.

Marin: Formerly Apollo's co-worker.

UNFRIENDLY

Cassiopeia: they've barely interacted, but he finds xer mildly annoying. in the same way you might find a little cousin annoying

trivia

his design is inspired by Mollo from Rivals of Aether and Atlas from Cryptid Crush. his name is a not-so-subtle nod to this (and also to the Apollo Butterfly)
in universe, he just really liked the name after getting into a Greek god phase via Percy Jackson. he'll say it's because of what he stood for, and that's partially true, but he mostly just thought it sounded cool

patches

his patches are mostly various references! ocs referenced are gastro and yuca (by rain), chord, chip, and catnip, while medias referenced include kirby, zelda, and saint motel
the trans button is a reference to him being trans and the A bottlecap is a reference to him being an anarchist. astonishing, i know
the quilt square isn't really a patch - back when he was unhoused his jacket got snagged on something and tore there, so he had to fill in the gap with whatever spare cloth he had on hand. he liked the look, so he kept it!
