Currently resides in the story of Gastro Lore (not its title), my friend rain's world!! She's the defacto spellcaster/bard of the main party.

personality

best described as just "a bit strange." very skittish and wary. she loves to lurk around and eavesdrop, but she cannot handle being acknowledged without prompting it herself. they're incredibly curious about anything they've never seen before, and love to collect things.

post the events of their story, they are a lot more confident around people (although they only really stick by people they know). they speak rather wordily when prompted, but they typically stick to shorter answers.

PARTY

Gastro (character by rain): The happy-go-lucky child who goes on adventures with his peers!! Yippee :3!! Found Chord while exploring the world's caverns and basically adopted them on the spot. Taught Chord most of what they know about the world and generally made them feel like a person.

Yuca (character by rain): Accompanies Gastro through his journey. at the beginning, she sees Chord as more animal than person, but she eventually gives them the time of day and comes to respect them.

FRIENDS

Nova (character by nova): Buddy!! Brought together by Gastro, Chord and Nova like hanging out quite a bit in their downtime. They like stargazing.

UNFRIENDLY

The Spirits: Shockingly, Chord feels very negative towards their possessors. Manipulative, controlling, cruel. I mean, the spirits taught Chord most of what he knows about spellcasting, gave him a bit of autonomy, and a couple were good... but boy do they never want to see a ghost again.

story

beginning

a creature of unknown origins rumored to live in the depths of a crystal cave. Chord doesn't recall much of their origins, just of living in the caves and observing the things around them, as if by instinct.

two cats - Gastro and Yuca - would eventually make their way into the cave and find Chord with the former coaxing them out to join their expedition

they learn a lot about the world - the places they've never seen, the creatures which roam about the world, the sounds of the surface, the feeling of not just being acknowledged but cared about. it's unlike anything they've ever experienced.

the only issue is that she can't really do anything except experience. they couldn't interact with anything. sure, they could nod, stomp their feet, or stare all the wanted, but that wouldn't cut it anymore! they weren't just an outsider anymore - they were noticed! they couldn't go back to the solitude anymore, as much as it bothered them to admit. they simply couldn't risk their peers getting bored of them. the world was calling their name - they just had to find a way to respond

on their expedition, Yuca comes across a plethora of artifacts, but one in particular stands out to Chord - an earring shaped like a scarab that promises the power of the spirit realm to its wearer. Chord, desperate for any sort of power, volunteers.

cannot eat; instead absorbs energy through crystals.
he doesn't recall where his cloak came from, nor the gem on it.
their badge came from a traveller long ago. the person never spoke, and they couldn't really get a good glimpse of the person's face, but they never forgot it. that may be their oldest memory
